Meet Katie Mecham, LMFT-A
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate | Life Coach
Founder of Rooted EQ
Katie Mecham holds a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate in the state of Texas. With a background in education and curriculum development—including designing her own music education program—Katie brings a unique blend of creativity, insight, and compassionate leadership to her work in mental health and healing.
Her path to becoming a therapist wasn’t linear. Raised in a high-demand religious environment, Katie experienced firsthand the deep internal conflict that arises when one’s authentic self is at odds with rigid systems. Though she always knew she was meant to be a healer, life took her through unexpected terrain—twists and detours that, while once seen as missteps, revealed themselves to be essential stepping stones.
Each chapter of her journey helped her gather the wisdom, empathy, and resilience needed to support others in their own transformation.
Katie’s greatest joy as a therapist is witnessing the moment someone realizes they can finally put down the burdens they’ve been carrying—when they see they no longer have to twist themselves into something they’re not. Her work is rooted in the belief that true healing begins when we return to ourselves. This belief led to the creation of Rooted EQ, a trauma-informed, spiritually grounded framework that blends evidence-based psychology with mindfulness and somatic practices to help people grow, change, and liberate themselves from suffering.
